Application: Exhibition Stand Graphics and Installation
Project: Chelsea Flower Show 2009
Venue: Chelsea
Size: 10m x 10m x 3m high
Brief: to create an underwater coral reef garden, featuring a Cayman Island coral wall as a backdrop.
Solution: the supporting stand areas and roof support were constructed using a mixture of timber and Crystal tensioning profiles. For the back wall, the Crystal profile was bent to create a curved feature across which the backlit PVC printed of the coral wall was tensioned. To create the sea surface, coated polyester material was printed with a water image and stretched using Crystal profiles.
To complete the stand various flora and fauna representative of a coral reef garden were used.
The stand was awarded both a Gold Award and the President’s Award for Most Creative Stand in the Show.
