Cayman Island Barrier Reef Stand - Chelsea Flower Show 2009

When award winning Stephen Hendry of Newington Nurseries conceived his ideas for the Chelsea Flower Show 2009, he wanted to create a huge impact and win a Gold medal in the process. Starting from Steve's initial drawings, a series of meetings with Graphic Alliance helped to bring his ideas to reality.  The stand depicted a Cayman Islands Coral Reef Garden setting, complete with underwater fauna and floral, corals and vegetation, a wooden jetty, a sailing boat. Printed graphics were used to portray the underwater (backlit PVC) and the water surface (printed Knitted polyester) to resemble the sea.

To give structure and stability to the stand, Crystal fabric tensioning profiles were used and fabricated into a curves to give an illusion of depth and movement to the backlit backdrop.

Stephen Hendry was delighted when the stand won him a coveted Gold Medal and the President's Award for the Most Creative Stand in the Show.
